"Kingdom Servants" Family Album

Bobbie on her 51st birthday Bobbie
I'm nobody special -- just a servant of the Lord. He has been the focus of my life since I received His gift of salvation when I was nearly 46 years old. Sometimes I wonder if He had a reason for my finding Him so late in my life. Was He waiting until I learned how to make web pages? Writing this site is my labor of love for Him! As it turns out, many of the pages within this site originated as references for myself. I'm delighted that the selections in the "God's Word" section have helped so many others as well.

For 32 years I've worked in the canvas industry. I'm currently employed as the head seamstress for Wilmington Awning (and also serve as WebStress), sewing a variety of custom canvas products. I love my job, but I'll admit to daydreaming about retirement. To that end, I'm happily training my assistant to replace me.

Knee injuries and arthritis run-amok cause me to use a cane and a rolling walker, both of which I decorate at Christmastime.

Ken and the Stanley Cup, June 2002 Husband Ken
Ken and I have been married for 24 years. He's been disabled by "diabetic autonomic neuropathy" since '01. He has sudden spells of extreme weakness, leading to semi- or unconsciouness, accompanied by pain. Triggered primarily by heat and physical exertion, they happen two or three times a day, lasting between 30 minutes and 5 hours. When in a spell, Ken is unable to make the simplest rational decision. Therefore, he cannot work, drive, or even do much around the house, which is extra-chilly all year round.

Ken relies on a walking stick, and occasionally uses a wheelchair. He's a member of a local chess club, and enjoys a variety of model-building hobbies.

Her Poochness, Mary, August 2006 Our Mary
God led us to this beauty at the local Animal Control, when her parking meter was on its last minute. What a treasure she is! This AKC (All Kinds Combined) pooch is a combination of yellow lab, golden retriever, and greyhound! She's extra beautiful when she runs! She can catch squirrels and displays her most ferocious barking in the presence of turtles. Mary exudes unconditional love and affection ("sweet" is an understatement) and is truly a Champion Cuddler. She's is a grand source of entertainment when she plays with a balloon, tries to get a too-big stick from the yard into the house, or when she gets her evening toy of a plastic soda bottle filled with small treats and Cheerios. She's always ready to lick a plate, and is the best portable heater you could hope for.

May 2008 The Grandchildren
I love children who are quiet and belong to somebody else -- and it's much more fun being the "grandma" than the "mom." My son Barry and his lovely wife Patty have blessed us with two precious granddaughters. Julia, almost 8, is in second grade, and is a true Mommy's girl. Evelyn, age 4, is decidedly a Daddy's girl. Being the out-of-town grandparents, Ken and I don't see these darlings as often as we'd like, and what a delight it is when they visit! But I'll tell ya -- I get worn out just watching them play. Now I know why God gave me a son; He knew the son would give me these beautiful girls.

Eddie, Princess, and HerculeLulu at 2 days old The Horses
We couldn't ask for better "neigh"bors.
Their pasture is just across the road from our home, and the owner allows us to pet them and give them treats. There are currently six horses in the pasture.

Andy is the white horse. Princess is brown with two white socks. Eddie is brown, the son of Princess, and has one white sock. Hercule is brown, the half-brother of Eddie, and has three white socks. And Perky is a rust color. When the three brown ones are standing together, I can't tell them apart without looking at their feet.

Lulu was born May 14, 2007. What a delightful addition! Like her mother, Princess, she has two white socks, but Lulu is wearing hers on her hind feet. It is utterly fascinating to watch her grown and learn, and she runs as if she's already set her sites on the Kentucky Derby.
